 10 English words to enrich your vocabulary


1. Catch-22: a dilemma or difficult circumstance from which there is no escape because of mutually conflicting or dependent conditions. (Example: No job without work experience and no experience without a job)

2. Suave: Charming, confident, elegant, well mannered, polite (typically used for men) (Example: He is so suave in front of the ladies)

3. Atrocious: very bad, horrible, unpleasant, offensive, and cruel (Example: The recent rape incidents in Nepal were atrocious; Her dress sense is so atrocious)

4. Stupendous: awesome; extremely impressive (Example: Today I got a stupendous score on my test)

5. In a fix: To be in a troublesome situation (Example: I am in a fix because I have made plans with two different friends for this evening)

6. Flummoxed: confused, perplexed, and bewildered (Example: The boy was completely flummoxed when the teacher asked him a question)

7. Rendezvous: French word for Meeting / Date (Example: I have a rendezvous with my friends this Saturday)

8. Obtuse: Dumb / Unintelligent / Dim witted (Example: The man was so obtuse that he gave away his password to a fake caller)

9. Nevertheless: in spite of that (Example: He was very tired nevertheless he went on walking)

10.Ephemeral: lasting for a very short period of time. (Example: Fashion and its trends are quite ephemeral in nature)
